Due to the commercial success of the James Cameron Avatar movie, every producer starts now to ask himself a logical question. Is it possible to create 3D stereoscopic version from an 2D movie? Is possible to offer to audience a new strong experience with the movie, which they already know, and already saw in theaters? And (of course) earn some money on that?

Almost every shot, can be converted to 3D. The process of this transfer, however, is heavily "content depended", very labor-intensive, and places heavy demands on the CG artists, and their know how.

The first step of this process is to create rotoscoping masks for object in scene. The next step is, re-create the scene in 3D space so that we can generate depth information from that. The camera tracking software, and other high end postproduction techniques are used for this purpose.

The last step is to offset original image, in according to depth information, to create the image for the second Eye, so the stereo effects is achieved.
